Biggest Loser - Family Style!

Image
Do you watch NBC's Biggest Loser ? It's a family favorite at my house! On Tuesday evenings, I cook dinner (Yes, I said cook! Remember, I'm working on eating at home at least 3 times a week .) and then we set up TV trays in the living room. My husband, daughter, and I all eat dinner off of our TV trays and watch the Biggest Loser together. LoVe this family time! Tonight after we ate dinner, we also completed some chores during the commercial brakes. We My husband rinsed the dishes and my daughter and I loaded the dishwasher. We also folded a load of laundry. Not bad for a family night, eh?!? Oh, and in case you've read my posts about my running adventures, the big date is getting closer! Yikes! Not too sure I'm ready, but we'll find out soon enough.

Imma Be. Imma Be. Imma be livin' that good life.

For many of us the month of January is focused on improvements: home, health & fitness, family, relationships, etc., etc., and when we make those improvements we're gonna "be livin' that good life." As for me, I am doing just that! In 2010, Imma be living that good, good life! (Not that my life hasn't been good up to this point, but I'm finding ways to make it better.) No, I'm not talking (or singing) about New Year's resolutions. I'm making goals for myself and my family; small attainable goals such as training for a half-marathon or my family eating FROM home (not just AT home) a minimum of three (3) nights per week . I've also been working really hard to make sure that my washer and dryer are both EMPTY before I go to bed. And just not washing clothes all together does not count! And neither does taking the clothes out and piling them in a chair. Yes, I admit. I am guilty of both. Or worse, I'm guilty of leaving clothes in the d...

Not AGAIN!

First, I should warn you. Today's blog is not for those with a weak stomach! It was nearly a year ago that I blogged about having the Holiday Blues , and low and behold today my daughter wakes up with a stomachache. Yes, this means that I have to stay home with her again this year and deal with vomit! If you recall from my Holiday Blues post, I do NOT handle vomit. Lucky for me, the first time she wretched this morning (in the kitchen), my husband had not left for work yet. In fact, he had the pleasure of seeing it all unfold. Thankfully, I am blessed with a husband who makes an excellent nurse (and clean-up crew!)!!! Hopefully, she'll make a quick recovery and we can get some holiday decorating done.

Holiday Blues

So yesterday morning, not even an hour into the school day, my daughter comes by my library complaining of a stomachache. The nurse checked her over, but no fever, just a pale face and a bit of clamminess. (Is that even a real word?) So she rested in the nurse's office for a while. I stopped back by 15 minutes later (One of the perks about working at your child's school!)and nothing had changed. I made a decision to go ahead and take her home. After being at home for a couple of hours and eating lunch, she began to feel better... Or so I thought! It was an hour or so after lunch when I heard her in the bathroom hurling - oh my! It was then that I realized that this was the FIRST time in which I was the only adult around with a puking child! (She's 10 mind you.) Can you believe that?!? Usually her dad or my dad are around and they handle everything; I have a bit of a weak stomach. Oh it is definitely a case of the holiday blues! Fortunately for me, it hit her all at once a...
